Biography
In the 2024/25 season, the Polish baritone Jan Zadlo can be heard as Moralès in Bizet's Carmen at Baltic Opera in Gdańsk and at the Grand Theatre in Łódź.
Most recently, he sang Winston in the German premiere of Lorin Maazel's opera 1984 at Theater Regensburg. He covered the role of Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro for Glyndebourne on Tour and sang the role of Figaro at the Warsaw Chamber Opera. He also portrayed Dancairo in Carmen at the Polish National Opera.
He made his opera debut in the title role of Don Giovanni at the Silesian Opera in Bytom. In past seasons, he debuted in roles such as Mefistofele (La Damnation de Faust) in Romania, Papageno (The Magic Flute) at the Grand Theatre in Poznan and Donner (Das Rheingold) with the Polish Radio Choir and Symphony Orchestra.
He has performed on concert stages with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Polish Radio Choir and Symphony Orchestra, the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Świętokrzyska Philharmonic, the Zabrze Philharmonic and the Polish National Opera Orchestra.
He has worked with conductors such as Fabrice Bollon, Gabriel Chmura, José Maria Florencio, Philippe Forget, Sascha Goetzel, Michał Klauza, Alexander Liebreich and Tadeusz Kozłowski, as well as with directors James Bonas and Barbora Horáková Joly.
Jan is a passionate lieder singer and has given recitals at the Polish National Theater, the Royal Castle in Warsaw, the Music Academy in Katowice, the Karol Szymanowski Museum in Zakopane and the Frankfurt Opera.
He studied in Katowice, was a member of the Opera Academy at the Polish National Opera in Warsaw and at Le Studio de l'Opéra de Lyon and won numerous prizes, including at the Szymanowski Competition , the International Otto Edelmann Singing Competition in Vienna and the International Giuseppe Di Stefano Opera Competition in Trapani. In 2024, he was a semi-finalist in the Viñas International Tenor Competition.
