Biography

Russian tenor Ilia Skvirskii, 24, debuted at the Bregenz Festival this summer (2024) as part of their prestigious Opera Studio where he appeared in the role of Gherardo in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi directed by KS Brigitte Fassbaender , and also sang the role of Roggiero in their mainstage production of Rossini's Tancredi, conducted by Yi-Chen Lin. In winter 2025, Ilia will debut the role of Don Ottavio in a new production of Mozart's Don Giovanni at the Landestheater in Bregenz (house debut).  

The young tenor was born in Miass, and is currently studying at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna with Prof. Rainer Trost.  He made a debut in 2023 at the Vienna Musikverein as the tenor in the solo quartet of Franz Schmidt's Das Buch mit sieben Siegeln, under the baton of Manfred Honeck.  He has worked with conductors such as Constantin Orbelian, Christoph Meier, and Vladmir Kiradjiev.  His repertoire consists of roles such as Tamino, Nemorino, Conte Almaviva, Lenksy, and Duca.  

Ilia has participated in many competitions and won the Kamen Chanev Competition in Plovdiv, Bulgaria in 2022 and received a special prize from Krassimira Stoyanova.
